"Why is she losing blood. . ."

Ann's older sister Joyce, five-foot-two, weighed five hundred and
fifty pounds when she entered the hospital. She and the doctors
entered a race against time to discover the multiple illnesses she
suffered, any of which could kill her. In this passage, Joyce's
doctor admits how serious the situation is.

"She fixes her gaze on the plate. . ."

Short scenes from life as sisters run through the book, following
Joyce and Ann from childhood through adolescence and into
    adulthood.

"She's trying to make the want go away. . ."
"She lives one life in secret. . ."
"Thinness itself won't change her life. . ."

Look through the mind of a binge eater as she follows a path from
despair, fear, and loneliness toward understanding, positive
    habits, and self-worth.
